Awards and Success

We measure our success on the satisfaction and success of our clients.  We are particularly pleased with awards that demonstrate the commercial viability of High Spa cattle and have been proud of the number of our clients who have achieved success in “the world’s largest carcase competition”, the Suncorp Certified Australian Angus Beef™ Quality Awards – 14 major awards by High Spa and High Spa genetics in 5 years.
Some of our special highlights over the years are as below:

2017

  • Final Performance reports for High Spa Edward E3, Sire Progeny Benchmarking Bull in Cohort 1 of Angus Australia’s Benchmarking Program rank him 1st amongst his Cohort for birth weight and 1st for gestation length (he is also an Angus Society EBV trait leader for those traits – August 2017 analysis – and a trait leader for Calving Ease direct) 1st for IMF%, 1st for MSA Marble Score and MSA Index (Index) and 5th for Shear Force (kg)
  • High Spa have nominated a wonderful Trust son, High Spa M8 into the Angus Sire Benchmarking Program (ASBP) Cohort 8 and he was recently accepted.  We look forward to exploring his early potential as a multi-purpose “curve bender” bull.

2013
E3 has exceeded expectations in the Angus Sire Benchmarking Program. He has outstanding calving ease and low birth weight, backed up by nearly breed average growth. He is a real curve bender and a real heifer bull that will still breed keeper daughters and steers near breed average for growth. He is positive for fat now sought after in fertile daughters. His NFI (Net feed efficiency) figure is currenty -0.19 (November 2013 EBV’s) – this is in the desirable range as his sons ate less than expected for their size and growth

2010

  • High Spa Edward E3 selected for the Angus Sire Benchmarking Program. He is a calving ease bull and we are keen to see his possibilities in that area. Semen available.
  • Another Spring Field Day held with good attendance and interest. We have decided to continue with a spring event although there is no longer an “official” Spring Beef Week

2009

  • Doing our bit to help educate Australian beef breeders and advance the Australian Angus Beef Industry globally – 20th May, combining with CAAB™ to host a visit from chefs and journalists from Japan
  • 28th May, Angus Australia & More Beef from Pastures, Regional Group Field Day held successfully at High Spa with 50 attendees.

2008

  • High Spa held a successful spring open day on Sunday, August 24th 2008, independent (but during) Victorian Beef Week. We made this bold move to enable more of our clients, prospective clients and interested persons to be able to come along and participate. For visitors convenience and enjoyment our decision is to continue with the Sunday Spring open day independent of the Beef Week allotted day for our region (unless the allotted day falls as Sunday)

2007

  • High Spa held their first Spring Open Day on Saturday August 25th, 2007.   A good number of performance recorded bulls and spring calving females, cows and heifers, were purchased by some of the 100 visitors to the inaugural spring event.
